Identity and citizenship in the European Union

Guest editor: dr. Henk-Jan Rebel (Senior lecturer, HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht, and Senior researcher, EUPRERA Research Group on European Communication: Communicating Europe to the Europeans).

The Romanian Journal of Communication and Public Relations invites scholars to contribute to the April 2013 issue with papers on the topic of the European identity and the debate surrounding it. Topics may include, but are not limited to:

  • National identity vs. European identity, collective identities, multiple identities;
  • ‘Europeness’ vs. ‘Otherness’;
  • Public perceptions of types of identity within the EU;
  • Citizenship education;
  • European citizenship and special rights policies;
  • EU governance and European citizenship;
  • Identity, citizenship and migration in the EU;
  • European identity in times of crisis;
  • European integration, political communication, and public mobilization.


All contribution must be written in English or French and submitted to the e-mail address by February 1, 2013. Submissions must follow the Guidelines for Authors, available on the Journal’s website
