COMM-AIT: The First AI Competency Test for Communication Professionals
The Academic Society for Management & Communication, Leipzig University, and Siemens AG have launched COMM-AIT – the world’s first scientifically validated AI competency test specifically designed for professionals working in strategic communication, corporate affairs, and public relations.
COMM-AIT was developed under the leadership of Professor Ansgar Zerfass at Leipzig University, a global centre for corporate communication research, and is grounded in the latest scientific insights into AI-related competencies. The initiative was realised in collaboration with experts from the Academic Society for Management & Communication and Siemens AG.
Why AI literacy matters?
AI literacy has become an essential qualification in the communications field. Professionals seeking to use AI technologies strategically and responsibly require more than just technical knowledge. They also need practical skills and a strong understanding of ethical boundaries. COMM-AIT addresses all three dimensions.
What does the test offer?
COMM-AIT evaluates participants across three areas:
- Knowledge of AI concepts and tools
- Skills in applying AI in communication contexts
- Attitudes towards ethical and responsible AI use
Each participant receives:
- A personal AI Competency Index, categorising their competence across five levels
- A detailed competency profile to highlight strengths and development areas
- The option to retake the test to track progress over time
Who is it for?
COMM-AIT is designed for communication professionals working in corporate communications or corporate affairs departments, PR or communication agencies, or as freelancers or communication service providers.
COMM-AIT is available online, free of charge, in English and German at www.comm-ait.com.
