Ester Conings Vanvik is a lecturer at Kristiania University of Applied Sciences, Norway, and a PhD Student in Strategic Communication at the Department of Strategic Communication at Lund University, Sweden. Her research focuses on the intersection of sustainability transitions and organisational change communication, with a particular emphasis on the extractive industries. In her PhD project, she explores how companies strategically navigate the complex pressures and paradoxes of sustainability transitions in modern society through strategic communication.
Ester holds a Master’s degree in Audio-Visual Arts (RITS, Belgium), a Master in Marketing and Advertising (Solvay Business School, Belgium), and a Master in Business Administration (Vlerick Business School, Belgium). She has extensive experience as an assistant professor and programme director at Kristiania University College and 25 years of consultancy experience in the advertising industry in Belgium and Norway. She is also a Research Fellow at the Kristiania Research Group for Work Life and Sustainability.
Ester is also a founding member of EUNES, where she served as Communication Manager and later Network Leader (2023-2025).
Research topics
Her key research areas include strategic communication, corporate communication, internal communication, stakeholder engagement, and sustainability communication, with an emphasis on corporate communication.

Teaching topics
In addition to research, Ester teaches courses in corporate communication, digital communication, marketing communication, public relations, stakeholder engagement, strategic communication, strategic planning, and sustainability communication. Her teaching emphasises strategic communication, sustainability communication, PR, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement.

Professional topics
Ester also applies her expertise in practice, helping organisations develop corporate communication, branding, and creative communication strategies. She focuses on brand and marketing communication, corporate communication, CSR and sustainability, consultancy, and research. She also delivers workshops and public talks on sustainability communication and related topics.

The 30th International Public Relations Research Sypomsium – BledCom was held on 30 June and 1 July 2023 in Rikli Balance Hotel, Lake Bled, Slovenia. It atracted 135 participants from 26 countries from five continents. Its theme was Public Relations and Sustainability. Ideas were presented in two plenary and 16 paper sessions.
