Public Relations, Social Responsibility
& Sustainability network

The “Public Relations, Social Responsibility & Sustainability” network is created to develop a deeper exploration and understanding of the disciplinary, both academic and professional overlaps, intersections, and tensions between the two adjacent fields of PR and CSR.

On the one hand, for example, the PR sphere has been seen both as authentic “socially responsible advocacy” and corporate-driven green-washing or green-hushing; on the other hand, one of the most overused arguments against CSR culture and practices is based on labelling them as “PR stunts”, while instead “good” CSR policies and initiatives can nourish PR excellence.

Given these complex preconditions, it is important to monitor and promote the development of a body of theoretical and practical knowledge useful for both research, teaching and professional activities in the fields of PR and CSR education and professionalism – even more so since professional bodies on both sides have launched and promoted specific standards, codes of practice and competence frameworks.

How can EUPRERA members join the network?

Scholars and practitioners who are members of EUPRERA are invited to join the network by contacting Dr Adalberto Arrigoni (a.arrigoni@leedsbeckett.ac.uk), with a short statement presenting their motivations, interests, projects, and ideas.

This network welcomes and encourages scholars from different disciplinary, professional, and methodological backgrounds to participate.

The network will operate virtually but will also aim at organising face-to-face yearly symposia, preparing collaborative research bids, and facilitating joint publications and outcomes.
