FuturePR international student competition
FuturePR, 1st edition, 2024, the EUPRERA international student competition organised with ICCO
EUPRERA is proud to announce the launch of the latest FuturePR International Student Competition, the 1st edition in collaboration with ICCO! Building on the foundations of previous competitions like PR Arena and the University PR World Cup, this event marks an exciting new chapter in international student competitions.
AIM
The competition aims to bring together students from diverse national and cultural backgrounds, encouraging them to collaborate on addressing critical issues related to the role public relations and communication play in a world of misinformation and polarisation.
2024 CLIENT
For its inaugural edition, the competition will focus on the Media Education and Information Pledge, challenging students to create PR strategies that promote a sustainable, peaceful, and equitable future.
PARTICIPANTS
Public relations and communication students enrolled in Higher Education Institutions:
- that are EUPRERA institutional members or
- where EUPRERA individual members teach or
- where practitioners affiliated to an ICCO member teach.
Students should be at least in their 2nd year of bachelor studies. Their study programme should be situated within a broad communication sciences or communication-adjacent field.
NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS
– EUPRERA: individual members – up to 5 students, institutional members – up to 10 students. If two members from the same faculty/school nominate students, only the first set of students will enter the competition (or a list agreed on by both academics)
– ICCO: practitioners affiliated with ICCO associations that also teach in HEIs – up to 5 students (if two members from the same faculty/school nominate students, only the first set of students will enter the competition (or a list agreed on by both practitioners)
BRIEF
Students will be tasked with developing a PR campaign related to the client’s mission. The full brief will be presented to participating students by the Pledge task force led by ICCO.
CALENDAR 2024
Oct 3 – Launch of the competition
Oct 3 – Nov 3 – EUPRERA and ICCO members carry out internal selections
Nov 3 – Deadline to nominate students (please contact the PR Education Network education@euprera.org to receive the student nomination form, stating your affiliation and membership).
Nov 3 – Organisers communicate to students the programme for the next section of the competition, the final brief, the intermediary assignment, and the masterclasses: days, hours, links, topics, lecturers
Nov 4-8 – Presentation of the competition brief by ICCO and delivery of several masterclasses (1/day) based on the topic of the brief
Nov 10 – Deadline for students to submit an individual assignment (analysis in video format related to a dimension relevant to the brief –e.g.: The landscape of misinformation and PR and comms actions in the student’s home country – the exact topic will be communicated in due time to nominated students)
Nov 11-15 – Evaluation of individual student assignments by the EUPRERA PR Education Network jury and selection of the 30 individual finalists (Nov 15 – announcement of the results)
Nov 18 – Team formation (10 teams x 3 members from different countries) and mentor assignment by organisers, Q&A session about the brief
Nov 18-25 – Students work on the final brief and check in with mentors
Nov 26 – Deadline for submission of presentation & support materials as required by brief (EOD)
Nov 28 – Delivery of the presentations by the final 10 teams, deliberation by jury, award ceremony (online)
