The webinar content will be outlined by Professor Øyvind Ihlen of the University of Oslo, looking into its objectives, format, and what participants can anticipate.
Professor Jens Seiffert-Brockman from WU – Vienna University of Economics and Business will unpack the eligibility criteria and offer advice on creating a strong application.
As a former participant, Ester Conings Vanvik from Kristiana University College will share her personal experience with the seminar, detailing the challenges, rewards, and how it influenced her PhD research.
The webinar will conclude with an interactive Q&A session, offering attendees the opportunity to engage with the speakers.
Speakers
Jens Seiffert-Brockmann, Department of Business Communication, Vienna University of Economics and Business, Austria
Professor for business communication at the Department of Business Communication at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU). Between 2015 and 2020, he was a post-doctoral researcher with the Corporate Communication Research Group, Department of Communication at the University of Vienna. He received his doctorate in communication science in 2014 from the University of Leipzig, where he also graduated in communication science and political science. Jens has also studied abroad at Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic, at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, United States and as a guest researcher at Lund University, Sweden. Currently, he is an associate editor at the International Journal of Strategic Communication.
Øyvind Ihlen, Department of Media and Communication, the University of Oslo, Norway
is full professor in the Department of Media and Communication (IMK) at the University of Oslo (UiO) and adjunct Professor (Professor II) at Nord University. He is co-director of POLKOM – Center for the Study of Political Communication . His research focuses in particular on strategic communication of political issues. Ihlen has received several international prizes and published over 160 academic works.
Ester Conings Vanvik, Lund University, Sweden
Ester Conings Vanvik is a PhD Student in Strategic Communication at Lund University. Her research interest lies in the intersection of organizational communication and sustainability communication. In her thesis project she focuses on understanding how companies navigate communicatively the complex pressures in contemporary society. Ester holds a master’s degree in the Audio-Visual Arts (RITS), a master’s in marketing and advertising (Solvay Business School) and a master’s in Business Administration (Vlerick Business School). She works as a program director (Bachelor in PR and strategic communication) at Kristiania (Oslo) and has 25 years of experience from the advertising industry.
