Tasos Theofilou is a Principal Academic in Public Relations at the Faculty of Media and Communication at Bournemouth University, United Kingdom. His research focuses on strategic and organisational communication, with particular emphasis on sponsorship, the history of public relations, and corporate social responsibility (CSR). He also examines crisis communication and the role of public relations in shaping organisations, institutions, and societies.
Tasos serves as Chair of the International History of Public Relations Conference (IHPRC). He is guest editor of several special issues on the history of public relations in journals such as Corporate Communications: An International Journal, Public Relations Review, and the Journal of Public Relations Research. He is series editor of History of PR (Routledge) and co-editor of the New Directions of PR series (Routledge). He is the editor of the book Women in PR History (Routledge, 2020) and co-editor of Histories of Political Public Relations: From Propaganda to Public Health (Routledge, 2025).
Within academia, Tasos has held several leadership roles, including Programme Leader and Programme Director, and has led validation and revalidation processes for academic programmes. He also served as Head of the Corporate and Marketing Communications Department at Bournemouth University.
Beyond his institutional roles, Tasos contributes to the wider professional and academic community. He is an External Examiner and Accredited Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) and serves as Network Leader of the European Public Relations History Network (EPRHN) within EUPRERA.
